HEALESVILLE WILDLIFE SANCTUARY NIGHT MARKET

AND UP CLOSE ANIMAL ENCOUNTERS:

Bella and I went to the Sanctuary for the night market in the gift shop. Not only were we able to buy some Australian made gifts for Christmas stockings but Bella was also able to get up close and personal to some animals. Amazingly, we also won a raffle which we were just delighted over as we have not won anything before. Because we spent money in the gift shop we are also in the draw to win a "wade with a platypus" ticket which would enable her to get into a pond and frolick with one - apparently they like to play and be patted just like dogs. This would be good because we are studying platapie this term (pictures and essays will be posted in my next article), so fingers crossed. We were also given a ticket to come back after December 10th and cuddle the baby animals for free. Bella is thrilled.

The black footed tree rat.

These animals are nocturnal so he was acting a bit skiddish and didn't hesitate to climb
onto Bella's arm when she held it out, which the keeper wasn't happy about. He was
quickly put back into the towell and I missed the photo.

Bella had a platypus painted on her face for free.

The goanna (I think that's what it is?) was very friendly

Who can resist the wonder and beauty of the owl?

Bella found many little treasures in the raffle basket for herself and as Christmas presents for her friends, including Aboriginal Art.
